In my view, infertility is not a disease, and the vast industry built around IVF appears to be driven more by profit than genuine compassion. It’s deeply troubling that access to these services is largely limited to the wealthy, while many existing children are in need of homes and care. This reflects a troubling imbalance in how resources and attention are allocated. What’s more, IVF seems to be enabling a mindset where some people intentionally delay parenthood, assuming that science will simply “fix it” later. This overconfidence in technology not only downplays the physical and emotional toll of fertility treatments but also reflects a problematic cultural shift—where reproduction is treated like a lifestyle option rather than a biological and social responsibility. I believe it’s worth questioning whether the time, talent, and money poured into IVF might be better spent supporting adoption, child welfare, or essential public health services. Thank you for considering this perspective.
